Stephen is a leading workplace relations and employment lawyer, with more than 30 years of experience in the workplace relations field. He gives legal and strategic advice to some of Australia's largest corporations. He has represented employers in many major cases in the Fair Work Commission, the Federal Court of Australia, the High Court of Australia and other courts, with excellent results.
Stephen was heavily involved in the development of the Fair Work Act, the modern award system and numerous other major workplace relations reforms.
Stephen has represented employers in many enterprise bargaining negotiations and disputes and has led employer responses in opposition to various major industry bargaining campaigns by unions.
For over 22 years, Stephen was the Head of National Workplace Relations Policy / Director of National Industrial Relations of the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) and was a Legal Practitioner Director of Ai Group Workplace Lawyers for several years.
